License

What you can and can’t do with Templystudio files, in plain words: personal and small-business use, one client project per purchase.

Updated

Short answer: every Templystudio purchase gives you a non-exclusive license to edit and use the file for yourself and for your own small business. You can print, cut or publish what you make, but you can’t resell, share or give away the files themselves, edited or not.

This page explains the standard license in plain language. Some products add their own terms, shown on the product page; where those differ from this page, the product page wins for that product.

What does the standard license allow?

With the standard license you can:

  • Edit the file as much as you like: change text, colors, fonts and layout.
  • Use the finished result yourself, for example send your resume, fill in your planner or track your budget.
  • Use the file in your own small business, such as a bookkeeping spreadsheet for your shop or a cut file for items you make and sell (within the product’s limits).
  • Use one purchase for one client project, as long as you hand over the finished result and not the editable template.
  • Print the finished result as often as you need for your own use.

What isn’t allowed?

With any Templystudio license you can’t:

  • Resell, share, give away or lend the original or edited files, including inside a zip, a course, a membership or a bundle.
  • Upload the files or designs to template marketplaces, print-on-demand sites or file-sharing services.
  • Use our designs in another digital product that you sell or give away (for example, a planner, template or SVG pack).
  • Claim the design as your own original work, or register it as a trademark or logo.
  • Let other people use your copy; each user needs their own purchase.

How do the terms differ by product?

Each product page states its license. In short:

Product typePersonal useBusiness useNotes
Resume & CV templatesYesYour own job search and documents; one client project per purchaseDon’t resell or share the .docx files
Digital plannersYes, by the buyerNoPersonal use only; don’t resell or share the file
SVG & cut filesUnlimitedSell up to 500 physical items in total per bundleNo print-on-demand and no resale of the digital files
SpreadsheetsYesYour own small business, for example a coach using it with a clientDon’t resell or share the spreadsheet

What counts as a small business?

We mean an individual, a freelancer or a small company using the files for its own work. If you’re a larger organization, need to share files across a team, or want to use a design on more items than the license allows, contact us before you buy and we’ll tell you what is possible.

Do I own the design after I buy it?

No. You buy a license to use the file; Templystudio keeps the copyright in the original designs and templates. The text, numbers and personal content you add to a template are yours.

What about fonts and other third-party assets?

Our templates use free fonts, which are linked in each README. Fonts are covered by their own licenses (for Google Fonts, usually the SIL Open Font License), not by ours. Check the font license if you plan to embed fonts in something you distribute.

What happens if the license is broken?

If the files are used in a way this license doesn’t allow, the license for that purchase ends and you must stop using and delete the files. We may also ask platforms to remove copies that were shared or resold.

Selling your own digital products? Our guide how to start selling digital products covers licensing basics in more depth.

Quick answers

Can I sell the finished items I make?

For SVG cut files, yes: you can sell up to 500 physical items in total made with each bundle. For resumes and spreadsheets, you can use the finished result in your own work and business. You can never sell or share the digital files themselves.

Can I use one purchase for a client?

Yes, for one client project per purchase, as long as you deliver the finished result and not the editable template file. Buy one license for each additional client.

Can I share a planner with a friend or family member?

No. Our digital planners are licensed for personal use by the buyer. Each person who uses the planner needs their own copy.

Can I put the designs on print-on-demand sites?

No. Uploading our designs to print-on-demand listings, template marketplaces or other digital products counts as redistribution and isn’t allowed.

Which terms apply if a product page says something different?

The license terms on the product page take priority over this page for that product.
